It happened when the Niedzica Castle was taken by Horváths of Palocsa. They ruled the region with a heavy hand and had no mercy for anyone. One day, when Jan Horváth went for a stroll he met a gypsy woman who did cards readings. She told him about the forthcoming doom of his family. The irritated heir ordered to hang the fortune-teller. Still, she managed to put an acorn in the ground and announced that when the tree withered, it would be the end of Horváths. Then, she dissolved into thin air. The prophecy was fulfilled. The proof for it is a stump of the oak near the Niedzica Castle.
