Chapel of St Rosalia

A long time ago, people in Niedzica suffered from cholera. One day, on Sunday after a Holy Mass, people who left the church discovered a skull rolling in front of them. They went for the priest to show him. The skull was rolling around the church and then along a road. People with the priest went after it for a long distance, until they reached a hill behind the village, where the skull stopped moving. They believed it was a sign from God and decided to build a chapel on that hill – the Chapel of St Rosalia. St Rosalia became the patron of Niedzica. The people prayed to her often and for a long time, until the disease subsided.
